Wireless Monitor Models – Just As Great As Wired Models

A wireless monitor is an excellent choice for a baby’s nursery. Gone are the days of wired baby monitors that had very little options for movement, they had to be set next to electrical outlets which may be somewhat inconvenient, if moving from room to room.

What Is A Wireless Monitor?

A wireless monitor has usually two or more components to it, a transmitter and at least one receiver. The transmitter sits in the room where the baby is located and the receiver can be carried around so that the baby can be monitored while the adult is out of the room. A wireless monitor works without having to be plugged into an electrical outlet, much like a cordless phone does. The receiver can be carried from room to room without having to worry about plugging it in. The wireless monitor is super convenient. The range varies from model to model, but most have adequate range to be effective from anywhere in the home or the immediate outdoors. A wireless monitor typically shares the same radio waves as other wireless devices.

Benefits

The main benefit of using a wireless monitor is the mobility of the wireless monitor, it does not have to sit in one spot next to an electrical outlet, and this is a wonderful quality. A wireless monitor usually comes with a belt clip and can be carried around easily. It offers peace of mind while baby is napping so that the care giver can get other chores done.

Draw Backs

A wireless monitor only has a certain range, once outside the range it will not work. If there are other wireless devices in the home than the wireless monitor may interfere with their functions or vice versa.  A wireless monitor depends on batteries to work, this can get expensive after awhile depending on normal use.

Cost of a Wireless Monitor

A wireless monitor can be slightly more expensive than a conventional wired monitor, but the added expense is minimal and the convenience is worth it. A decent wireless monitor can be had for around sixty dollars, models that have longer ranges will be more expensive, but for typical use a sixty dollar model will go a long way. A wireless monitor is definitely worth the cost.

A wireless monitor can be found at most stores that carry baby equipment. A wireless monitor may also be available at electronics stores.
